WIN for Chapter 228!!
A WIN for NTEU and especially DOE Chapter 228 - during a meeting at the White House, our esteemed President Kim A Parker passionately advocated for our all-federal government unions when she highlighted the lack of engagement from DOE management in pre-decisional discussions and the absence of a true partnership. The response was - I did not know there were issues at DOE.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to Chapter 228, President Kim A Parker, and especially Timothy Curry, DAD Accountability Workforce, OPM, for their instrumental role in ensuring the successful implementation of the President's Executive Order concerning the Federal Government and Promoting Labor-Management Forums.
On a promising note, On March 6, 2024, the President signed, Executed, and Implemented an Executive Order on Scaling and Expanding the Use of Registered Apprenticeships in Industries and the Federal Government and Promoting Labor-Management Forums, a significant step towards fostering better labor-management relations.
President Biden Restores Labor-Management Forums
Last week, President Biden issued an executive order restoring labor-management forums in the federal workplace.
This comes on the heels of a White House briefing during NTEU’s Legislative Conference where chapter presidents asked the administration for support of labor-management forums. These forums provide frontline employees with a more meaningful voice in agency operations and foster discussions about improving the effectiveness of government services.
NTEU-represented employees have continued to benefit from labor-management forums because they are included in our contracts. NTEU supports the White House effort to restore them across government and continue efforts to empower workers and their unions.
